Hillary Clinton, Class Act. Barack Obama, Our Nominee!

I was just watching the roll call of states at the Democratic National Convention, and I was extremely impressed with the way Hillary Clinton handled herself in calling for Barack Obama's nomination by acclamation.  That could not have been easy at all, no matter how much of a political professional she is. The bottom line is that took class, big time, and major league political leadership skills. Thank you, Hillary Clinton; now let's all get out there and win this for Barack Obama!

P.S. "Love Train" is a great song!

UPDATE: Great speech by Bill Clinton, he totally rose to the occasion and explicitly said that Barack Obama was ready to be president.  Just what the doctor ordered.  Other highlights included a super strong speech by John Kerry, a powerful introduction by Beau Biden and an emotional speech by his dad, Senator Joe Biden, which almost certainly connected with people all over this country. Finally, we had Barack Obama come out for a few minutes, praise Joe Biden and give shoutouts to Hillary and Bill Clinton - very smart move.  In sum, it was a great night for the Democrats, definitively setting us up for Barack Obama tomorrow and the campaign this fall.  I'm psyched, how about you?

I'm in awe of Hillary.

Thanks for posting this (Glant - 8/27/2008 8:59:54 PM)
I missed it live.  What a moment of history!

ugh (notwaltertejada - 8/28/2008 12:37:11 AM)
why would Senator Obama want the endorsement of two people who ran such a racist campaign?

Boo to Scripted Conventions (Jim K. - 8/28/2008 11:51:21 AM)
I prefer the workings of earlier conventions (1950s, etc.) when all of the candidates who had won delegates at some point were nominated, speeches were given on their behalf, roll calls were taken, and the nomination by acclamation occurred after the various roll calls.  These modern conventions are too scripted, in the pursuit of "unity", for my democratic taste. I therefore felt that Hillary's motion to nominate Obama by acclamation, coming in the middle of the first and only roll call, was premature and somewhat demeaning to her and her supporters.  I say this as an early Obama supporter.

I agree with you, but... (Lowell - 8/28/2008 12:16:40 PM)
...this is the way conventions have been for years, and I don't see it changing back.  It's called "progress," I guess.  Ha.
