You mean like the U.S. invasion and 5-year occupation of Iraq, Senator?

Etcetera, etcetera... (dsvabeachdems - 8/14/2008 9:06:51 AM)
When nothing you can think of will do...when you can't remember inconvenient facts...when you are courting the easily impressionable, babble incessantly.

Ridiculous (tx2vadem - 8/14/2008 2:13:46 PM)
The following reporting from the Post, just incensed me:
The scale of the planned U.S. aid appears sizable for a brief conflict with an unknown, but limited, number of casualties. The U.S. Embassy has already released $1.2 million worth of disaster packages, including medical supplies, tents, blankets, bedding, hygiene items, clothing, beds and cots. The State Department and other U.S. agencies have agreed to send at least $670,000 worth of other supplies, officials said.

We can do this so fast in response to tiny Georgia?  And yet we were so slow to response to major events like the Tsunami and Katrina.  Amazing!  I mean you can point out more international humanitarian crises than just these.  But wow!

Oh and McCain, get a grip!  That oil pipeline is pointless.  We should support the corrupt, authoritarian regimes in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan?  We are trying to ensure their free action by protecting this pipeline in Georgia?  That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.  There is no beacon of political or civil liberties that exists around the Caspian.  Every drop of that oil is paying for governments we should not be supporting.  So why does it matter whether the oil comes through Russia or Georgia or a pipeline through Iran?  It all has the same effect.

All these liberty-is-priceless conservatives are holding up Georgia to protect Baku.  Wow, do they not realize the contradiction there?  Where was their outrage when President Bush hosted the President of Azerbaijan at the White House?

The corporate media (Lowell - 8/14/2008 5:43:27 PM)
picks up the story:

Here's my question to you: Is John McCain hypocritical to condemn Russia for invading Georgia when he voted to invade Iraq?

And now, the answer from "Bob in Michigan":

I only need a one word answer for this one Jack. YES!

This was supposed to help McCain (Rebecca - 8/14/2008 9:37:46 PM)
We can only guess what Rove was doing in Yalta (in Ukraine) a couple of weeks ago where he met influential members of the former Russian satellite states. He attended a conference where the upcoming American election was discussed and the possible effects on Eastern Europe was the topic. I'm sure Rove convinced them that they needed to help McCain (You don't think he encouraged them to support Obama, do you?) I'm sure the "events" in Georgia were supposed to help McCain, but he managed to make a fool of himself anyway. Maybe there is a God after all.
