True Cost the Moral Low Road

Preemptive War was always conservatism's most idiotic doctrine.  Regardless of the crimes of Saddam Hussein, the idea that America has an international right to invade another country which poses no immanent threat to our national security is unconscionable to the civilized modern world.

Watching Bush flail miserably today in response to Russia's truly "Soviet" actions against Georgia, was like watching Bush truly is Putin's bitch.

Those of us who have been opposed to the war since it began, have always known that the doctrine itself was reprehensible, but we also decried the fact that it cost the greatest nation in the history of the world, it's greatest asset:  the moral high ground.  After WWII American Presidents truly claimed to lead the free world, because they held the moral authority of sacrifice, wisdom, lawfulness, and power necessary to garner the support of brother nations.  All of that ended with conservatism's execrable doctrine of Preemptive War, and we are only beginning to count the costs.
