Tim Kaine on Wolf Blitzer's Show Discusses Iraq, Offshore Drilling

I think Gov. Kaine does quite well on Iraq, explaining that before the invasion, there were people who pointed out that stability in Iraq would require more troops and cost more money than the Bush Administration's rosy estimates. Kaine also notes, correctly, that several of those people were "busted back for saying that."  People like Eric Shinseki, for instance.

On offshore drilling, he stays on the Team Obama message...drilling's a possibility as part of a comprehensive energy plan, but right now "let's drill in the nearly 70 million acres of land that has already been leased to oil companies for drilling."  On that issue, see point #4 here.

Last but not least, Gov. Kaine has this to say about the chances of Virginia going "blue" this November:

"I really believe for the first time in 44 years we've got a great chance of getting [Virginia's] electoral votes in the blue column behind Senator Obama this fall."
