Wolf and Wittman Embarrass Virginia Constituents

crybabyGOPFrank Wolf (R-VA-10) and Robert J. Wittman (R-VA-01) joined a few other radical right wing U.S. House Republicans in a publicity stunt on the House floor Monday. It was a very transparent political effort to deflect from their real record of support for the oil industry, giving billions in tax giveaways to multi-national corporations running up record profits, and pushing for off-shore drilling that is proven to have NO impact on gasoline prices for years.

Constituents need to be asking Wolf and Wittman why they and their fellow Republicans worked to block "... expanding drilling in Alaska, against promoting renewable energy, against establishing the first new vehicle efficiency standards in 32 years, against repealing taxpayer subsidies for major oil companies that are making record profits, against cracking down on price gouging, and against curbing excessive speculation in energy markets."

It's pathetic that Congressional Republicans are spending time with political stunts rather than having helped enact real solutions. Perhaps they're all like Wolf and Wittman who do not seem to understand that political stunts and being a rubber stamp roadblock Republican doesn't help anyone in Virginia. What Congressmen Wolf and Wittman are doing is embarrassing all of their constituents.

I don't often publicly praise Tom Davis, but I'm glad to see that he didn't take part in this publicity stunt even though his district is just a few miles outside of DC and he could have easily made the drive to the Capitol.

I could try to explain away Davis's moment of clarity, but I'll just let it stand that I think it's good that some Republicans realize that solutions don't come in stunts like this.
