How About Bruce Hornsby?

There's a rumor that Keith Hummel will officially withdraw from the CD-1 race either today or tomorrow. As you may or may not know; Hummel has merely suspended his campaign, leaving the 1st Congressional District as the only one in Virginia currently without a Democratic candidate. Whether Hummel does withdraw by week's end or not, the search is on for a replacement and my fellow F2B blogger Dan Smolen has come up with an intriguing alternative: Bruce Hornsby. Here are his main arguments, which he expands on a great deal in his actual post:

He is an accomplished, commercially-successful musician

He's a successful businessman

He's a "been-here" born and raised in the Old Dominion

He's from the other end of the district

He has got better name-recognition than the incumbent...that guy, the pretty-face Whatshisname from Westmoreland County

He could headline his own fundraisers

And he's Probama

It Would Kinda Be Like This..... (Scott Surovell - 7/24/2008 5:49:45 PM)

I think other VA Dems will agree: we wish you'd nominated him in the first place (Silence Dogood - 7/24/2008 7:11:02 PM)
if only so he could have given us a song in lieu of a stump speech at the convention. ;-)

Well, we all wish (Tiderion - 7/25/2008 1:34:06 AM)
we knew more than we do now. We still might need a leadership shake up though. I like Hornsby. I see him around on occasion (I live in Williamsburg). His family are active in local politics. I don't know that this is something he would do though.

I am still pushing for a drafting of John McGlennon.
