Wonder If The Emergency Landing Affected Their Votes?

Everyone was fine, so let's enjoy the humor in this:

NEW ORLEANS -- A Continental Airlines flight carrying former presidential candidate Ron Paul and six other members of Congress to Washington, D.C., made an emergency landing in New Orleans on Tuesday after a loss in cabin pressure.

The seven congressmen, all from Texas, were trying to get back in time for a Tuesday night vote on an aviation safety bill when the flight landed without incident, a spokesman for one of the representatives said. No injuries were reported among the 128 crew and passengers.

Not exactly the ideal time for the oxygen masks to come dropping down, don't you think?

Glad outcome (pvogel - 7/22/2008 11:27:19 PM)
Im glad a tragedy was averted. Not just the 6 congresmen,  but the 122 others on the flight. The bush  era has seen the total trashing of the airline travel industry, among other things

one of those on board is a friend (teacherken - 7/23/2008 12:57:21 PM)
and he and I exchanged emails about it.  They did not finally get to DC until around midnight.  They were somewhat shaken by the experience, but none the worse for wear.

Yeah, but I'd wager Ron Paul still thinks airline safety regulations are unconstitutional.  Because the Founding Fathers didn't have to stow their carry-on bags under the seats in front of them and return their seats to their full upright-and-locked position in order to draft the Constitution.  Seems to Ron Paul like government should spend a little less time worrying about what's in the regulations for airplanes and a little more time reading the regulations for our government, as outlined by a little document called the Constitution of the United States of America, and its appendix A, also known as the Bill of Rights, and the other amendments.  Except the one that made a direct income tax constitutional.  Ron Paul doesn't believe in the Constitutionality of the 16th Amendment to the Constitution.  Ron Paul's kids didn't even have 16th Birthdays, they skipped right ahead to being 17 because Ron Paul believes a little thing called Liberty entitles you to be whatever age you want.  Also, for us to continue employing privateers and issuing Letters of Marque.  Freedom!

...I'm sorry, it's been sooooo long since I've made fun of Ron Paul.
