I arrived here Friday, met up with the disability assistance group, Mary's Family. Before the concert, Anne Holton and Annella Kaine met with the children privately, the kids presenting them with Hawaiian Leis for the Beach Boys concert.
Afterwards, the concert kicked off with a selection of bands from Virginia. A positive highlight came when Kaine ran onto the stage, whipped out a harmonica and started jamming with the band. After gospel choirs, rappers, country singers, and latin singers, it came time for the non-Virginian talentThe Beach Boys. They got everyone jamming--even Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine!
Today started early with the prayer breakfast, then the clouds got thick and it started to rain...then pour, just as the inaugural ceremony started. Warner left the stage, and the AG, the Lt. Governor, then Kaine were sworn in. The event ended with a speech, highlighting the past and Virginia's future.
And Kaine is governor!
