Frank Wagner, 1st Step: Admit You Have a Problem

Somehow or another, State Senator Frank Wagner (R-Virginia Beach) cajoled Delegate Chris Saxman (R-somewhere mountainous in VA) to carry an offshore drilling bill in the Republican-led House of No knowing full well that his own bill finding audience in a commonsense Democratic-led State Senate stood a snowball's chance in hell of passing.  That bill (HB 6006) passed a House Rules committee and is headed to the full House tomorrow TODAY, JULY 9TH.  Please contact your House legislator and urge a "No" vote to HB 6006, ASAP.

This bill does nothing but spend imaginary money on all sorts of lollipops and roses, otherwise known as the supposed lottery hit when we tomorrow hit that mother load of black gold off Virginia's beautiful shoreline.

Republicans reacting as only Republicans can, have conjured up wet dreams of resolving America's panic reaction to rising gas prices.  I mean, come on... didn't you know that if we drill for oil offshore today, we can tomorrow see lower gas prices?!?  That money realized tomorrow completely cures our current Virginia transportation crises, didn't you know.  And hell, it'll even clean up the Chesapeake Bay and cure cancer.  Karl Rove will be so proud of his Virginia "Change makers" here in Virginia when he comes out Friday to fundraise for Tra La La.

But, hello real Virginians who don't imagine being like Beverly Hillbillies and shooting up crude, there are some very very serious ramifications implied with actually drilling for that dark, disgusting oil off Virginia's pristine beaches.

In fact, there are 12 reasons why even just drilling for natural gas off Virginia's shoreline are more stupid than just stupid.  Check out those 12 reasons here.

There is so much that is so extremely special about Virginia.  I know!  I spent over 20 years living in its beautiful Blue Ridge mountains.  Now I live with 2 teens and a tween in its coastal community.  Why in the world do we want to screw that balance up?  First with Dominion's coal powered plant in Wise County spewing out tons of carcinogenic fumes and contributing to the literal rape of our beautiful mountains, to this almost unreal threat of oil spills coating the beautiful shorebirds and pollutants killing total populations of freshwater and saltwater fish, what the hell is going on in Virginia?  Where is our leadership?  Who among them is fighting against corporate greed in favor of the interests of our generations to come, who we want enjoying the pleasures of fishing, wading, hiking, camping, swimming, breathing in, loving, making out, observing animals making out, skipping stones, bird watching, biking, canoeing, collecting acorns, hearing a bobcat screech in?

But I digress...  please urge your delegates to vote "no" to HB 6006.  This is not the direction Virginia needs to take.
