Paradapalooza

A quick photo update from the Dale City and Fairfax parades featuring 2008 candidates Mark Warner and Gerry Connolly.  I don't think Elmo is running for anything, but I'm sure Warner is happy to get his vote!  I'll be putting up a few more photos as time permits this weekend.

And check out Jon Bowerbank's website for photos of Jon marching in the parades.  Since Jon isn't running until next year he was marching in support of Mark, Gerry, and all the other Democrats on the ticket this fall.

Disclaimer: Lowell and I are both paid consultants for the Bowerbank campaign.

Excellent photo of Mark Warner and Jon Bowerbank (Lowell - 7/4/2008 4:58:44 PM)

Nobody... (elevandoski - 7/4/2008 5:31:23 PM)
Nobody works a parade better than Mark Warner!  Nobody!

Definitely... (Bryan Scrafford - 7/4/2008 7:20:09 PM)
I heard one elected official describe Warner's running from side to side working the crowd in Fairfax as "f****ing incredible." It was, but perhaps even more incredible was how excited the people were to shake his hand.

Man, even Elmo is for Warner! (Kindler - 7/4/2008 9:22:16 PM)
Though rumor has that Oscar the Grouch is voting for Gilmore -- y'know, birds of a feather...

Turn Out (Glant - 7/5/2008 7:37:45 AM)
No report on a 4th of July parade is really complete without at least one attempt to estimate and compare the Democratic and GOP participation.  So, in order to keep RK as complete as possible, here goes.

When I got to the Fairfax City parade, the Republican group had just started on the route.  I tried to take a picture but my camera did not boot up quickly enough.  That is how rapidly they disappeared from view.  I am guessing about 25, maybe 30 people.  Mostly Fimian Supporters, including Fimian himself.

By contrast there were probably 300 or more Democrats walking in the parade (or, in the case of Governor Warner, running in the parade.)  One gentleman told me that he had come all the way from Tokyo so that he could work for the Obama campaign!  WOW.

For the most part, the spectators were very much in support of the Governor and appeared to support the whole ticket.  I think I saw only two McCain signs along the route compared to thousands of Warner, Connolly and Obama signs.

A wonderful day to march as a Democrat.

Looking forward to HUGE wins in (Lowell - 7/5/2008 7:50:04 AM)
Fairfax this November.  Combined with Arlington's 80% turnout/80% Democratic performance, that should give Barack Obama and Mark Warner a big head start as they compete in the rest of the Commonwealth.

We had a great time In Lorton, VA also (totallynext - 7/5/2008 11:39:55 AM)

I think George Barker came to a close second to Mark Warner in working the Crowd.  George ran the whole way also!

Now I see (KathyinBlacksburg - 7/5/2008 12:44:48 PM)
where all the pols were.  In Bburg, Dems walked in the parade (with their grand prize winning float).  But yours truly was absent, so no photos.  From what I gather, also missing were ALL politicians.
