ABC News has a report, including this item: "While in Charlottesville, Bush toured Monticello with Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, a Democrat."  Hey, wouldn't this have been better suited to our wonderful lieutenant governor?  Just a thought.

Who writes this guy's speeches? (legacyofmarshall - 7/4/2008 3:53:03 PM)
State of Virginia?  Really?

Kudos to those who yelled their convictions - I don't think I'd have the cojones to do the same, though I may be thinking it.

Protesters may be correct, but... (Teddy - 7/4/2008 4:37:56 PM)
their message was too garbled and unintelligible to be more than a discourteous disruption. It would have been more impressive with legible signs, a bullhorn to make their statement loud enough to be understood, maybe even a recording of bombs falling? As it was, I think most of the audience regarded the "protest" as little more than a crazy bunch of leftie extremists intruding on a patriotic ceremony, insulting the office of the presidency of the country we all honor and love (even though we're stuck with this dishonerable little prick of a president for a while, the office represents us all---- like its holder or not). Rather than make a point about Bushboy, I fear the protesters only engendered sympathy for the jerk, embarrassment, and anger. A political fart.

Perhaps... (legacyofmarshall - 7/4/2008 4:41:59 PM)
But what would Charlottesville be without "a crazy bunch of leftie extremists"?

Fredericksburg, that's what.

Yep (Waldo Jaquith - 7/4/2008 10:07:19 PM)
I've got to agree, Teddy. It just made the opposition look muddle-headed and foolish.

Bush Is A Bum (Lee Diamond - 7/4/2008 6:21:31 PM)
Everyone should know that.  I want to prevent him from having a happy opening of his "library."  What a joke, a Bush "library."  Bush and Cheney are nothing but greedy former oil executives.  They belong at The Hague.  They're worse than Connolly.

I was taught to not interrupt people when they speak. (Pain - 7/4/2008 7:45:29 PM)
I loathe President Bush, but I have respect for this Country and the office of the President.  Protestors like that generally just look like a bunch of loons, regardless if they are right or wrong.

They'd have a lot more class if they booed the President at the end of the speech, or as someone else said, had signs they could quietly display.

I mean, when I see a bunch of rightwing nutjobs screaming at rallies, I think exactly what I saw here.  I wish they would just STFU.

think about the last 7 1/2 years... (unionman - 7/5/2008 5:06:46 PM)
For God's sake, think about the last 7 1/2 years and where this nation is at presently! Are we all numb? Over 4,000 dead U.S. solidiers, ten's of thousands of them maimed and suffering from PTSD and receiving lousy care. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis dead. The infra structure in the U.S. is crumbling because of lack of investment in it. There should have been thousands of protesters there to protest the Criminal-in-Chief.Instead you're concerned about dissing the office of the Presidency. Well Bush has dishonored it by his actions.

Are you F***ing kidding me?!!! (The Grey Havens - 7/5/2008 11:53:50 PM)
Kaine gave Bush a tour.  He should have given him a tour of the train back to Texas.

What are Kaine's handlers thinking!?
