4th of July, Asbury Park

If you haven't guessed by now, Bruce Springsteen is God in my humble opinion (sorry, Governor Warner, you rank behind Bruce in my book). :)  Anyway, with that, here's Springseen's "4th of July, Asbury Park" in honor of Independence Day. This song always makes me think of the Jersey shore, a great place to spend the 4th of July. But wherever you're spending it, have a great one.

By the way, if you missed the news, "Madame Marie" - immortalized by Bruce in this song -  died on Friday, June 27 after telling fortunes on the boardwalk for almost 70 years. That's a lot of fortunes! :) RIP Madame Marie.

Well the cops finally busted Madame Marie for tellin' fortunes better than they do
This boardwalk life for me is through
You know you ought to quit this scene too

I had pals of mine in college from NJ, and at the end of each sumer they made it a point to their fortune's told to see if they were going to have a good school year...whether it was out of a devotion to Springsteen or a belief in Madam Marie's powers, I don't know, but it was something they always had on the summer bucket list...
