Mark Warner just released his excellent fundraising numbers for the last 3 months:

Democrat Mark Warner raised nearly $3 million for his U.S. Senate race since April, bringing his total to $9.3 million.

That leaves the former governor's campaign with $5.1 million on hand five months before the November election for retiring Republican Senator John Warner's seat.

Of course- the Gilmore campaign was eager to show the public that he was a serious candidate and immediately released his excellent numbers:

Ana Gamonal, spokeswoman for Gilmore's campaign, said totals likely would not be ready until the quarterly report filing deadline on July 15.

Oh wow, it must be absolutely HUGE if there are so many contributors that it'll take them to the deadline to calculate it! Golly... I guess its just a waiting game to see Jim Gilmore for State Senate Senate's massive haul!

Geez. (Silence Dogood - 7/3/2008 10:33:22 AM)
I sort of figured Warner had this quarter in the bag when he sent out his end-of-quarter email asking for a measly $5.  No show boating, no "let's raise another $100,000 before the end of the quarter," "last minute show of strength" nonsense.  Just "Hey, if you happen to have $5 to spare, that would be pretty sweet.  Thanks."

But $3 million?  Increasing his total amount raised half over again?  That's pretty friggin' incredible. Wow.

Jim Gilmore's FEC complaince people are going to have to weigh the relative risks associated with just flat out lying about how much money they've raised and then publishing an amendment a week later and hoping no one notices at this point.
