Flip-Flop Frederick Backs Off Pledge Not to Run Again

Del. Jeff Frederick, newly-elected chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia, tells the Washington Post he's already reconsidering his promise not to run for re-election:
"A lot of guys around here are trying to convince me,'' Frederick said during a House recess. "I really don't want to (run)...But if there's this huge call and everyone in the world wants me to run for re-election, I guess there is some chance. If the whole world says we're going to relieve you of your pledge."

Frederick said he is 99.9 percent sure he will not run but that he is continuing to raise money to help his wife, Amy, if she decides to run for his seat and to continue to pay for costs to serve his district over the next 18 months.
As Rob reported earlier, Flip-Flop Frederick's backpedaling began in a new fundraising email. I guess Frederick's just trying to show support for the top of the ticket and the Flip-Flop Express, huh?

One more thing, can we mount some sort of a "Facebook Friend Flip-Flop Frederick" campaign? Kinda sad that the RPV's top official only has 14 Facebook friends, don't you think?

Wow! (Kindler - 6/24/2008 8:51:26 PM)
That's pretty impressive that "everyone in the world" wants him to run for re-election.  That's 6 billion people!

His Wife Amy? (Barbara - 6/24/2008 9:20:28 PM)
Oh please.

Nice. (Rob - 6/24/2008 10:30:59 PM)
So rather than devote all his time to RPV, he'll be trying to get his wife elected.  I'm glad he made that promise to devote himself to the state party -- and that the state party fell for it.
