Crooked Keith Fimian

There's no mystery as to why the GOP settled on a heretofore unknown candidate to hold the seat of a retiring Republican--he's rich and can self-fund. With a once lean-GOP seat having experienced enough demographic shift to make it a likely Democratic pickup, and with the NRCC underfunded and poised to lose at least ten seats, Fimian seems like a no-brainer. He's not as unlikeable as Jim Gilmore, and while he's affiliated with abortion nut Tom Monaghan, he's not completely batshit crazy like Dementia Demaris Miller, Arthur Purves, or any of the usual NoVA GOP also-rans.

Unfortunately, for the GOP, he does, however, appear to be a little light on business ethics, a minor problem for a candidate running on business experience.

In 2005, the IRS filed a tax lien against Fimian's company, U.S. Inspect, for $16,000 in back taxes, penalties, and fees. U.S. Inspect also faces a delinquent tax bill from the state of Delaware in 2007, and had its business license was revoked in the state of Arkansas in 2006. For a CPA
For a man who has touted his status as a CPA and small business owner, Keith Fimian has a hard time keeping his numbers straight.  Indeed, when hit with a DCCC press release, all the Fimian camp could do is complain about the DCCC:

"These are serious times and campaigns should be about serious discussion about how we are going to best fix the problems the country faces," Hishta said. "It's a shame the DCCC goes into the gutter right out of the gate instead of discussing Mr. Connolly and his record."

Despite our acrimonious primary, I'd take our situation in VA-11 over that of the GOP any day of the week.
