Dems? Extremist. GOP? Wacko. Moderate? Albo.

On WTOP radio this morning, Del. Dave Albo managed to throw everyone in Richmond but himself under the bus. I don't have the exact quote (good luck ever finding anything on WTOP's website), but it was something like:
Kaine and Saslaw want $500 million a year for transportation. Speaker Howell wants zero dollars. It's my job to find the middle ground.

Got that, Gov. Kaine and Speaker Howell? It's about time you started listening to the wise counsel of Del. Dave "The Great Compromiser" Albo. He's clearly the only reasonable man in Richmond.

For more details on the special session that starts on Monday, check out the Washington Post. You'll thank me for linking to the print version. The standard version has an extreme close-up photo that makes Albo's bloated, pasty face look like a young version of Jackie Gleason's corpse (no offense to Jackie).

He Must Go. (JMU Duke - 6/19/2008 2:44:31 PM)
Dave's half-assed effort to look like he did something on transportation this year is an improvement over last year's effort to submit every single bad idea he could come up with as the "silver bullet," but it's still not going to save him this time around. I'm knocking doors in Springfield this weekend, trying to find the voters who will put us over the top this year, and then put Dave "Doing it to say I did it" Albo out to pasture next year.

Between the lines (Houdon - 6/19/2008 10:59:02 PM)
Read between the lines:  It's clear what Albo is talking about is either a gas tax or an increase on the sales tax on automobiles.  He'd happily sell both his paddles down the river...and yes, that's a mixed metaphor, but somehow appropriate here.
