This is good news for anyone who cares about all Americans being treated equally, and also to anyone who cares about our military having the most qualified people it can have:

Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) - the organization leading the fight against the U.S. military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy - has signed on Adam Ebbin, the only openly gay member of the Virginia General Assembly, as its new communications director.

Ebbin's first day on the job was Monday. He has represented Northern Virginia in the Virginia House of Delegates since 2004 and plans to continue working as a lawmaker.

"During this time of war, it is critical that we work to protect our LGBT service members honorably serving our nation," Ebbin said.

The lawmaker said the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy "not only threatens careers but is a threat to the operational capacity of our military."

Good luck to Adam Ebbin on this new job, and congratulations.

delegate Ebbin... he is a great voice for Arlington in the house. Glad to hear someone is going against this backwards policy while the Democratic nominee for president has not been strong on this issue.

Work Webb on this Issue (Matt H - 6/16/2008 10:18:43 AM)
I know a lesbian who would like to support Sen. Webb, but for his position on DADT.  I think Webb is ripe for re-evalutating his position, and realizes that our armed forces are not some exclusive club that has the resources to keep people out based on their choice in mates.
