This is good news for anyone who cares about all Americans being treated equally, and also to anyone who cares about our military having the most qualified people it can have:
Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) - the organization leading the fight against the U.S. military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy - has signed on Adam Ebbin, the only openly gay member of the Virginia General Assembly, as its new communications director.Ebbin's first day on the job was Monday. He has represented Northern Virginia in the Virginia House of Delegates since 2004 and plans to continue working as a lawmaker.
"During this time of war, it is critical that we work to protect our LGBT service members honorably serving our nation," Ebbin said.
The lawmaker said the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy "not only threatens careers but is a threat to the operational capacity of our military."
Good luck to Adam Ebbin on this new job, and congratulations.
