I had the pleasure of meeting him in '00 during the Iowa caucus. He was probably the most personable media figure that I have ever met. He spoke to me about his son Luke and how he was a fan of the candidate that I was working for. He was with Tom Brokaw and they were a pleasure to chat with. I remember that Russert sat on my desk because Brokaw was in the chair.
I always enjoyed his interviews and made it a point to Tivo "Meet the Press".
