Excellent news, I'm very happy to see this.  Go Glenn!

SENATOR JIM WEBB ENDORSES GLENN NYE FOR CONGRESS

Virginia Beach, VA--Virginia 2nd District Nominee Glenn Nye today received the endorsement of United States Senator Jim Webb.

"I am pleased to endorse Glenn Nye for Congress in Virginia's Second Congressional District.  I believe Glenn is dedicated to service and has a commitment to patriotism over partisanship.  Glenn's experience working overseas in conflict zones has provided him with a unique vantage point with which to approach the challenges our nation faces. I urge you to join me in supporting Glenn Nye for Congress," said Senator Jim Webb.

"I am honored to have the endorsement of Senator Jim Webb.  Providing veterans with the benefits they deserve is one of my top priorities in Congress, and I am glad to have an ally in Senator Webb. Senator Webb's GI Bill will provide hard earned opportunities to many veterans in our district. Senator Webb has proven himself in the United States Senate as a champion for bringing real results to Virginians and all Americans, and his backing is a ringing endorsement of my commitment to independent leadership."

Senator Webb's endorsement is the latest in a line of important developments for the Nye for Congress campaign, which on Tuesday was rated as one of the top races in the country by the non-partisan Cook Report.   Senator Webb's support follows important endorsements from Congressman Owen Pickett, State Senator Ralph Northam, Delegates Lynwood Lewis, Joe Bouchard and Bobby Mathieson among many other elected officials and community leaders.

...first and foremost I think we've got to have a balanced budget and be fiscally responsible. It's important for the future, the strength of our economy and I would be in favor of a balanced budget amendment to make sure we are much more careful about the way the government spends money. The people that I am talking to are asking to have representatives in Congress who are not tied too closely to one party and are going to make decisions and stand up for the values of the district regardless of...what the president's policy is. And I think that's one of the reasons that people have responded so well to my candidacy. I'm someone who has served my country overseas, and I've done the best I can to help promote U.S. interests and this is in an apolitical way...[T]hat's the kind of leadership and attitude that I intend to bring to Congress. People like Mark Warner have shown us...that when you put aside party allegiances and work across the aisles you get a lot done.
