"The assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, a United States Senator and brother of assassinated President John F. Kennedy, took place shortly after midnight on June 5, 1968. He was killed following celebrations of his successful campaign in the Californian primary elections while seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States." - Wikipedia

It's eerie (Jack Landers - 6/5/2008 8:18:38 AM)
40 years, almost to the day, after Bobby Kennedy was murdered, Barack Obama clinches the Democratic nomination for President.

I'm just saying. As if all this wasn't somehow historic enough.

It is eerie. (Lowell - 6/5/2008 8:26:09 AM)
I've been getting shivers up my spine all morning whenever I think about all this.

It's a mix of things (Jack Landers - 6/5/2008 10:47:30 AM)
On the one hand, I feel like this sort of historical echo is saying "we're picking up where we left off 40 years ago." On the other hand, there's the obvious fear that this is all too good to be true and that something horrible could happen to Obama.

sigh . . . (AnOrangeDem - 6/5/2008 9:43:54 AM)
. . . I was only six years old but remember it like it was yesterday. Coming down the steps for breakfast and seeing my folks sitting around the dining room table looking incredibly sad. My sister told me the news.

sad, sad, sad.

still

Same here. (spotter - 6/5/2008 1:10:37 PM)
In the middle of the night the phone started ringing off the hook, and my mom answered it.  I will never forget that sound.

Rest in peace, Bobby.
