While sorting through Waldo's RSS feed of Bob "Nutcase" Marshall's bills, I saw one entitled: "HB 188: Death penalty; changes in provisions."  Needless to say, that scared me a little bit, until I look a closer look at it.  Turns out that old Sideshow Bob actually wants juries to be informed that, "[A]n individual who was sentenced to death in the Commonwealth and twice scheduled to be executed was later granted an absolute pardon absolving him of guilt for a capital murder conviction on the basis of DNA testing..."  Maybe Bob's not so bad after all*...

*Then again, maybe he is.  But still, I'll give Marshall credit where credit's due.

Did I mention he takes it WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY too far.

At least 'ole Bobby (blueinthecommonwealth_VA - 4/4/2006 11:31:08 PM)
At least 'ole Bobby Boy is consistant with his respect for human life. I'm anti-abortion and capital punishment like Marshall, but he takes it WAY WAY WAY too far.

Hey, as long as he's (Sam Penney - 4/4/2006 11:31:08 PM)
Hey, as long as he's a "real pro-lifer," as you put it, I can respect that position.  It's the hypocrites who want to protect unborn fetuses and kill criminals who make me sick.

Sam, Bob is almos (James W. - 4/4/2006 11:31:08 PM)
Sam,

Bob is almost certainly opposed to the death penalty, he's a true "pro-lifer". Of course, he probably only admits it to his wife and his priest.

Bob Marshall has fil (Passing Through - 4/4/2006 11:31:08 PM)
Bob Marshall has filed this one in previous years.  It didn't go anywhere in the House Courts and Justice Committee.

The case in which he's referencing - Earl Washington, the defendant CONFESSED to the crime willingly after his arrest and the DNA evidence that ultimately led to his legal pardon (not factual innocence) was inconclusive on some parts of the findings, meaning Washington still could have murdered the young woman in Culpeper in 1982.

Washington is not an angel by any means, for he was also serving 30 years in prison for attacking a relative with an chair leg.
