VA Republicans Continue Anti-Gay, "Pro-Family" Jihad

Today's Washington Blade has a fascinating article entitled, "Gay marriage, family issues return to Va. Assembly."  Among other things, the Blade points out that Virginia voters are "tired of divisive politics."  However, right-wing activists and loony-tunes like Del. "Sideshow Bob" Marshall (R-Manassas), are not giving up.  Far from it!  In fact, according to Marshall, "I got elected ? why the hell should I back off?"  I see...

Meanwhile, right-wing groups like the (anti) Family Foundation "have vowed to challenge the executive order issued by outgoing Gov. Mark Warner, a Democrat, which added sexual orientation to the state?s ban on employment discrimination against public employees."  Let's be clear about this:  the Family Foundation is arguing FOR discrimination.  What they claim, of course, is that they are merely fighting "an act that elevates homosexuality to a protected class and is yet another endorsement of that lifestyle by our government."  Yeah right.  And the Minutemen really have the best interests of Latino immigrants at heart.  Heh.

Here's the bottom line:

?Some of those people are stuck on controlling other people?s lives,? said Toni-Michelle C. Travis, associate professor of government and politics at George Mason University. ?Simultaneously, Gov.-elect [Tim] Kaine will try to focus the General Assembly on policy issues such as transportation, education, the broader issues.?

Got that?  Right-wing Republicans are focused, as they always are, on snooping around and telling people what to do in their bedrooms.  Mark Warner/Tim Kaine Democrats are focused on  making Virginia a better place to live.  For ALL its citizens.  Which approach do YOU prefer?
