RPV Convention: What Waldo Said

Waldo has his "RPV convention wish list," in which he writes that he's "excited" about the RPV convention this weekend.  Why is a Democrat excited about the Republicans getting together to choose their leaders?  For starters, according to Waldo, there's a chance the Republicans will elect Jeff Frederick -- "polarizing, inexperienced, and kind of a tool" -- as their party chair. According to Waldo, that would "surely seal Republicans' fate as a minority party in Virginia come next year's elections."  Needless to say, Waldo -- and most Democrats, I would presume -- are pulling hard for the "polarizing, inexperienced" one. Go Frederick! :)

Second, Republicans get to select which candidate will get slaughtered by go up against Mark Warner for U.S. Senate this year. As Waldo writes, "Short of a dead-hooker-or-live-boy scenario, Republicans may as well be nominating Mickey Mouse."

Finally, Waldo asks an interesting question regarding Oliver "Convicted Felon" North's endorsement of John Hager for Republican party chair -- "Do you really want to brag about that?"  Apparently, the answer to that question is "yes." What I wonder is this: what part of "illegal" doesn't John Hager understand?

In sum, all I have to say is regarding the RPV's retreat advance convention this weekend is..."what Waldo said."

Frederick (Flipper - 5/30/2008 1:00:05 PM)
I am not sure I would be praying for a Frederick win this weekend at the GOP convention.  The GOP statewide is a mess and has been for years - why change that? Keep Hager in and let the status quo keeping doing what they've been doing - losing elections by turning off moderate, independent swing voters.

Dems win either way (TurnPWBlue - 5/30/2008 4:26:12 PM)
If Frederick wins, the RPV will be in discord and run by an incompetent with the old guard scrutinizing his every move and destroying the party from within.

If Hager wins, the RPV will be in discord and run by an incompetent with a young upstart scrutinizing his every move and destroying the party from within.

That said, I'm rooting for Frederick.  He'll be lots more fun to watch implode.
