Waldo has his "RPV convention wish list," in which he writes that he's "excited" about the RPV convention this weekend. Why is a Democrat excited about the Republicans getting together to choose their leaders? For starters, according to Waldo, there's a chance the Republicans will elect Jeff Frederick -- "polarizing, inexperienced, and kind of a tool" -- as their party chair. According to Waldo, that would "surely seal Republicans' fate as a minority party in Virginia come next year's elections." Needless to say, Waldo -- and most Democrats, I would presume -- are pulling hard for the "polarizing, inexperienced" one. Go Frederick! :)
Second, Republicans get to select which candidate will get slaughtered by go up against Mark Warner for U.S. Senate this year. As Waldo writes, "Short of a dead-hooker-or-live-boy scenario, Republicans may as well be nominating Mickey Mouse."
Finally, Waldo asks an interesting question regarding Oliver "Convicted Felon" North's endorsement of John Hager for Republican party chair -- "Do you really want to brag about that?" Apparently, the answer to that question is "yes." What I wonder is this: what part of "illegal" doesn't John Hager understand?
In sum, all I have to say is regarding the RPV's retreat advance convention this weekend is..."what Waldo said."
If Hager wins, the RPV will be in discord and run by an incompetent with a young upstart scrutinizing his every move and destroying the party from within.
That said, I'm rooting for Frederick. He'll be lots more fun to watch implode.
