in Recent Days, Survey USA has begun polling voters on possible VP choices, as well as simple head to head contests. Today, Survey USA brought out this chart for Virginia, the Results may surprise you.

Obama v. McCain

this is what I glean from these results:

 1) In Head to Head Competition, Obama is beating McCain by 7 in our state. This is HUGE. The Cross tabs (link) indicate that Hispanics in Virginia are tilting heavily for Obama, as well as 17% of Republicans are considering voting for Obama. He is leading Independents slightly. the only area where Obama is not polling well geographically is in the Shenendoah Valley.

2) McCain's support  seems more dependent on who Obama choses as a running mate. Lieberman polls amonsts the strongest and weakest tickets depending who Obama chooses.

3) Tim Kaine nor Jim Webb were polled in this case, but there would be good reason to believe that either candidate would bring Virginia to the Blue side.

 4) Virginia is truely a Toss-up. we have been hearing it, and ealy polls gave Obama a lead (which was lost in the intirum), but now, we have confirmed proof that Virginia is definitely a battleground state.

 5) John Edwards may be a viable Running mate. Despite his 2004 loss, the man from North Carolina may actually be able to help swing two large states into the Blue Column on the East Coast. Forcing McCain to push his limited resources into previously safe states.

These numbers should be encouraging to the Democratic Virginians, and hopefully, the entire party will rally around Obama. The crosstabs seem to bear this out at the moment.
