What else can we conclude after this?
THUMBS DOWN: To The Washington Post, which last week managed simultaneously to come late to the party in reporting on Arlington's accessory-dwelling controversy, and to inject the issue of race and immigration into the controversy.

A May 14 Post story put racial and anti-immigrant overtones front and center in the accessory-dwelling debate. Trouble with the story is, while there are many reasons to be in favor (or against) the accessory-dwelling proposal, we haven't seen race or immigration as one of the big discussion points, either on the surface or below it.

Racism in this debate hasn't been subtle and it hasn't been below the surface. In fact, it's been given a public forum thanks to the same man who wrote the "thumbs down" in the Gazette. Here's a clip from just one letter to the editor:
[County Board Chair Walter] Tejada's definition of inclusiveness is making sure illegals in Arlington County get all of the taxpayer-funded freebies they can handle.
Maybe Scott McCaffrey, much like Stephen Colbert, can't see race?
