How refreshing to hear a Democrat respond in a timely way, in a beautifully phrased way, to Bush and Republican fear-mongering, to the implied belittling and the domestic political attack in a speech before a foreign (Israeli) legislature.  I think Bush intended not only to attack Obama, but to alert Jewish American voters that they should not trust Obama to protect Israel since he's an "appeaser" like Chamberlain with Hitler, thus Jews in the US should leave Democrats and vote for McCain. Bush imagined he could kill two birds with one stone.

The swift response from Obama is just what we've longed for over the past 12 years; in the past Democrats either whined or rolled on their backs and put their paws in the air when accused of being soft on terrorism. That Obama struck back immediately, re-framing the question and counter-attacking gracefully seems to have astounded and unnerved not just Bush but the press corps, which still has not figured how just how to present the situation. Heh, heh.

Obama's message here is for both Americans and Israelis too (snolan - 5/16/2008 4:21:29 PM)
That is what is awesome about this orator.  He can deliver clear points to two different audiences in one speech.  He has turned Bush's attack back on Bush and McCain and added his own well thought out invective on Bush's policies of the past 8 years.

Obama would do a vastly better job protecting our interests and Israeli interests in the Middle East.  Bravo!
