Cool New Democratic Volunteer Program Online

As Fred2Blue reports, last week a number of bloggers participated in a conference call/"webinar" with Democratic Party officials, during which we "were introduced to a brand new voter contact tool on the Democrats' official party website."  I must admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but after being walked through it, I decided that this thing is really cool.  As Chris Guy points out, "With the help of this and the Obama campaign's Vote for Change initiative, a million canvassers by election day 2008 is not out of the question."  Think about that: 1 MILLION canvassers.  If each one reaches 50 people, that's 50 million direct voter contacts.  Even if each of those million canvassers only talks to 20 people, it's still 20 million voter contacts.  And it's my understanding that this capability really didn't exist before.  As such, and given that direct voter contact is widely recognized to be the most powerfully effective tool in any political party's arsenal, it's potentially a huge advantage for the "blue team" heading into this fall's elections.

Now it's your turn: check it out and see what you think!

Is votercontact connected with the previously discussed program? (Hugo Estrada - 5/14/2008 10:40:04 AM)
A few months ago there was a thread by Susan Mariner where she was asking people to volunteer to talk with people in the neighborhood. Is this the same program, or is it another one?
