Governor Kaine on Energy

I stumbled upon an interesting PSA today that featured Governor Kaine asking all of Virginia to conserve energy.

"Energy is one of the most important issues of our time, and we all need to do a better job at conserving it..." Change a light bulb, buy energy efficient appliances, and properly insulate your house. All of which are very good tips for the average consumer and an important part of curbing our rampant energy use and fighting global warming. But didn't we know all this already?

You know what PSA I would like to see? I would like to see the Governor telling us about all the things that Virginia is doing to help reduce our energy consumption! Why should the onus of fighting global warming fall solely on individuals and not on the Commonwealth? It is not like I think that we shouldn't be taking personal responsibility for our energy use and conserving as much as possible, because we should, but it would be very nice to for the Governor elaborate on the sacrifices and investments that are being made on state level. A statement that says, we are all in this together, not, if you don't do it, I don't know who will...

If energy truly is one of the most important issues of our time, it should be treated as such.
