Foxes Guarding the Henhouse

What the heck? The FBI has raided the office of the Special Council responsible for making sure government whistleblowers are not persecuted.
The FBI has raided the office of U.S. Special Counsel Scott Bloch in an inquiry of whether he obstructed justice by having his computer files erased.

FBI officials said computers and documents were seized from Bloch's office during the raid Tuesday morning.

Investigators say Bloch is suspected of hiring an outside company to scrub his computer amid a federal investigation of alleged misconduct in his office.

The inquiry has been under way for more than a year and is looking into charges of intimidation and retaliation against whistle-blowers among staff members working in Bloch's agency.

Talk about the politicization of justice. Talk about the foxes guarding the henhouse. Talk about a government whose purpose is to pervert the purpose of government. This is beyond reprehensible  into the realm of bizzare, Stalinist statism.

And still, 28% support President Bush. Unbelievable.

Was Bloch the guy who hired the Geek Squad (Catzmaw - 5/6/2008 2:50:50 PM)
and had them scrub all of his computers seven different ways?  Nothing suspicious there, I guess.  I'm waiting to see what develops with this situation.  Hopefully there'll be enough space left over after yet another Wright/flag pin/flag salute/waffle/elitist/bad bowling story about Obama.

Man, whoever leaked this story is f***ed. (Silence Dogood - 5/6/2008 3:13:02 PM)

Call it Watchdog-gate (Kindler - 5/7/2008 11:03:09 PM)
But I actually had a much different take on the matter.

The guy once tried to subpoena Karl Rove.  He was harassing Bush appointees from Condoleeza to Lurita (i.e., trying to bring them to justice).  He had to be stopped -- hence the extremely unusual FBI raid (and note that they seized all kinds of info from him, not just info related to the particular allegations against him).  Not that he isn't guilty of various bad things, but I just wonder if that's the real reason for this raid, or not.

Let me also point out that this seems to be part of a pattern.  The Special Counsel for Iraq, who also uncovered a lot of dirt, is now being brought down on allegations against him as well.

Ya' don't mess wit' the Bush/Cheney mafia...
