Governor Warner continued his campaign kick-off tour in Richmond around 3pm today. The event included speeches by Congressman Bobby Scott and Governor Tim Kaine (more Photos on the flip)
The event was held in Richmond's Bio Tech Park, Governor Warner was instrumental in making sure facilities such as this one recieved the proper funding (Unlike Jim Gilmore who did nothing and let millions of dollars get taken back by the Federal Government) This was my first time seeing Governor Warner speak, and I must say I was incredibly impressed by him. His speech solidified my support for him. His idea for a block of "Radical Centrists" in the US Senate is something I can get behind with 100% support and confidence. I can't wait until we can call him Senator Warner.

Sorry about the image quality, I need a new camera!

I didn't make it to the Alexandria event (Lowell - 5/5/2008 10:40:43 PM)
tonight, but here's Brian Moran's statement:

MORAN JOINS WARNER FOR SENATE LAUNCH

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - House Democratic Caucus Chairman Brian Moran made the following statement after former Governor Mark Warner officially kicked off his campaign for the United States Senate. Delegate Moran will join Governor Warner at his announcement event on Monday evening at the Carlyle Club.

"Our nation faces as many challenges today as we have at any point in modern history. We have a war without an end in sight, a sluggish economy, and government run by the special interests. But, Virginia has faced these kinds of challenges before. And we changed direction and brought results for the people of Virginia. Now we need that in Washington.

Mark Warner's leadership made Virginia the best managed state in the nation, the best state in which to do business and the best state for a child's lifetime success.

Whether you're a Democrat, an Independent, or even a Republican, you know we need a new direction in our nation's capital. We have already seen that direction here in Virginia. We've seen an optimistic, hopeful vision of the future. We've worked with results-oriented leadership that gets things done.

We saw them in Mark Warner as our Governor.  And now we need him to be our next US Senator. I will be doing all I can to help him make that happen."

Tim Kaine (Lowell - 5/6/2008 11:55:21 AM)
Tim Kaine spoke about Mark Warner kicking off what will be a very successful campaign.  Kaine said that Warner delivered when he had a chance.  Kaine has known Warner for a long time, since 1980.  When Warner became governor, the situation was much worse than had been expected.  Warner didn't complain, just went about dealing with the challenges and getting things done for Virginia. Kaine predicted that Warner had a chance to be a great US Senator just as he had predicted Warner could be a great governor of Virginia.  The reason, in part, is that the United States faces huge challenges, just as Virginia did when Mark Warner took charge.  Today, we need to change direction, make fundamental changes.  We are going to send the second Democrat to the U.S. Senate.
