The U.S. Senate earlier today failed to pass legislation -- the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act -- "to reverse a Supreme Court ruling that makes it tougher for workers to sue for pay discrimination." The vote was 56-42, four votes short of the 60 needed to overcome Republican opposition.  Here is a list of Senators voting "yea" or "nay." Note that John McCain was conveniently absent for the vote, although he says he would have voted against it if he had been there doing his job like he's supposed to be.

By the way, Jim Webb voted "yea" and John Warner voted "nay."  Republicans voting for the bill included the endangered John Sununu, Gordon Smith and Norm Coleman, plus moderates Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, and Arlen Specter.
