This is impressive -- go Mark...er, your "excellency"! :)

FRIENDS OF MARK WARNER RAISES
MORE THAN $2.5 MILLION IN LATEST QUARTER

~ 77% in-state; $4.4 million cash-on-hand ~

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Friends of Mark Warner raised $2,521,976 in the Federal Election Commission (FEC) quarter ending March 31, 2008. The committee reported cash-on-hand of $4,384,294. More than three-quarters of contributors - 3,880 of the 5,024 individual donors -- were Virginia residents.

Previously, the former Governor's Democratic U.S. Senate campaign committee reported raising $2.7 million in the FEC's 4th quarter ending December 31, 2007 and $1.1 million during the two-week period in the 3rd quarter of 2007 in which Warner was an active candidate.

"We are gratified that so many Virginians are enthusiastically supporting Governor Warner's effort to fix what's wrong with Washington today," said Warner spokesman Kevin Hall. "Governor Warner has a proven record of responsible and bipartisan leadership - a record of bringing people together to make real change -- and that is what Virginians want to see in Congress."

A "thank you" video featuring Governor Warner can be viewed on the Mark Warner 2008 website.

Which party is the party of the rich again?

Can we say (Lowell - 4/10/2008 4:03:31 PM)
"jealous?" :)

jealous? (Brian Kirwin - 4/10/2008 4:12:48 PM)
of hypocrisy?

Come on, Kirwin (DanG - 4/10/2008 4:43:38 PM)
Warner was a good governor and you know it.  And he'll be a far better Senator then Gilmore.  Hell, I know tons of business-oriented Republicans who are supporting Warner both with a vote and financially (hence Warner's massive money intake) because they know what a disaster Gilmore was.

A good governor? (Brian Kirwin - 4/10/2008 5:06:46 PM)
He's responsible for our still having a transportation problem.

As did Gilmore and Allen (DanG - 4/10/2008 5:21:21 PM)
Governor Baliles spoke out about our eventual transportation problems in the 80's.  Every single governor, including your precious Gilmore and Allen, ignored his warning.  Yes, Warner did too.  But unlike Warner, Gilmore and Allen didn't have an all-consuming budget crisis to deal with.  Warner entire term was devoted to fiscal responsibility and his battle to get GA Republicans to do the right thing.  What's Gilmore's excuse?  And your boy George was the guy responsible for making VDOT F.U.B.A.R.

but Warner rasied taxes (Brian Kirwin - 4/10/2008 5:23:51 PM)
and even then transportation wasn't important enough to Mark Warner to benefit from his own tax increase (which, by the way, just funded a surplus greater than his tax increase).

So that's the best ya got? (DanG - 4/10/2008 5:27:08 PM)
Warner raised taxes?  If I remember correctly, it was the raising taxes thing that made him a hero in the yes of Virginians.  Saved our AAA Bond rating.  Maybe that's why business men are giving to Warner rather than Gilmore, no?

Warner raised taxes because it was the only solution.  It was politically ballsy, but it worked.  And he did well because of it.  So go ahead and bring up the tax thing again.  You'll just keep funneling business money to Mark Warner for Senate, and Gilmore can be outspent 10-1.

whatever (Brian Kirwin - 4/10/2008 5:35:51 PM)
He raised taxes and still couldn't send a dime of it to transportation.  Real "ballsy"

Ain't it a shame (legacyofmarshall - 4/10/2008 7:59:54 PM)
That all that hard-collected money went to such a wasteful program as education.  Golly gee, I sure wish Tech, UVA, William & Mary, JMU, and every public high school in the Commonwealth had to fend for itself instead of being, you know, good.

Any other reports... (legacyofmarshall - 4/10/2008 8:01:36 PM)
Finance reports aren't due until April 15th I think but, any idea where, say - Glenn Nye, Judy Feder, & Tom Periello stand?  Or... Thelma Drake, Frank Wolfe, Virgil Goode, or Jim Gilmore?

What about the DCCC? NRCC?  Senate committees?

VA Dems Raising Big Bucks (VaD2 - 4/10/2008 9:21:13 PM)
Periello- $340K raised/$500K COH
Feder- $310K raised/$700K COH
Nye- $250K raised/$222 COH

WOW! (legacyofmarshall - 4/10/2008 11:16:33 PM)
Impressive numbers all - where did you find this?
