RK Readers Want Gov. Kaine to Stop Dominion Plant

The results of this poll were about as clear as they can get. Overwhelmingly (77%-15%, with 8% "not sure"), RK readers believe that Gov. Kaine should stop Dominion's proposed coal-fired power plant in Wise County. The question is, has there been any scientific, statewide polling on this question? If so, I haven't seen it.  If not, why not?

Excellent questions (Eric - 4/5/2008 9:11:50 AM)
The result of our poll isn't a surprise - unless you count the 15 no votes.  I hope some of those "no" votes post comments here on why they think he shouldn't stop it.

But given that this is an issue, why hasn't anyone done a scientific poll?  I would think the big media in the area could get a lot of mileage out of such a poll.

Amazing (TheGreenMiles - 4/5/2008 9:19:01 AM)
Gov. Kaine's been pushing this thing all year and other than the people of SW VA, no one's hearing more about it than RK readers. Yet he's only convinced 15% of RK readers to support the plant.

There's no question of where the science is on this plant. This poll starts to answer the question of where public opinion is.

But none of that really matters, does it? Because we know where the money is.

Actually, it will matter if enough people make their voices heard loud and clear.  The challenge is to get to the point where politicians who side with Dominion instead of with the people and the planet take more heat on this issue than they can tolerate.

Just keep believing, speaking out and organizing, and yes indeed it will matter.
