I received the following email from Bryan Ault, the guy who started the movement to repeal the hated "abuser fees" here in Virginia.  Thank you to Bryan Ault, who demonstrated in 2007 what citizen activists, using internet tools like online petitions and the blogs, can accomplish. Great job, Bryan, hope you stay involved!

All,

The bill to repeal the Civil Remedial Fees ("Abuser Fees") was signed into law by Governor Kaine this afternoon. The fees are officially eliminated, and anyone who has paid them will receive a refund. You can read my blog entry about it at http://repealvafees.wordpress....

We ended with over 178,000 signatures and the petition has been closed. Please contribute to Petition Online at https://artifice.securesites.c...
Without their service, the campaign I started would not have had nearly this level of success.

Since we have successfully repealed the fees, this is the last time I will be sending any group communications on this or any other issue.

Thanks to everyone for your help and congratulations on successful participation in the democratic process.

Sincerely
Bryan Ault

A Text-book example (Teddy - 3/28/2008 11:27:41 AM)
of a successful grassroots, citizen-action effort which actually worked.  Also, an example of the rising power of the world village commons which is the Internet in action. Verrrry interesting, and Congratulations to Mr. Ault and every other member of society who participated.
