State Delegate Joe Bouchard and David Ashe Endorse Glenn Nye for Congress

"The citizens of the Second Congressional District have been poorly represented by an incumbent whose only legacy is blind loyalty to a President who has neglected the needs of military families and veterans who served their country with pride and honor.  It is time for the Second District to be represented by an individual who will stand up for the large number guard and reserve members, military families and veterans who live in the district.  Glenn Nye will do that," said Bouchard.

Virginia Beach, VA - In a sign of his campaign's growing momentum, Glenn Nye today received the endorsements of State Delegate Joe Bouchard (83rd District) and former Second District Democratic nominee David Ashe.  Bouchard, a 27-year Navy veteran, represents Virginia Beach in the General Assembly.

Bouchard, the former Commanding Officer at the Naval Station in Norfolk, stated, "I am proud to endorse Glenn Nye for Congress. Glenn's experience and service to his country in conflict zones have provided him with an exceptional understanding of the complex issues facing our military.  He will be an independent voice for the change we need, and I look forward to helping elect him to Congress in November."

Ashe, the 2004 Democratic Nominee in the Second District, served his country in the Marine Corps in Iraq.

"As a Marine on the streets of Iraq, I saw the results when people as exceptional as Glenn Nye were working side-by-side with us.  Glenn served his country on the ground in Baghdad and understands firsthand the challenges we face both in combat zones around the world and once we return home," Ashe said.  "When I returned from Iraq, I entered the reserves and it has become more important than ever to have a man like Glenn Nye to represent us in Congress.   I am proud to endorse him because he will be a strong independent voice in Congress for our veterans and military families."

"I am proud to have the support of Joe Bouchard and David Ashe, two community leaders who have served our nation with great honor and distinction.  In Congress, I will never waiver in my support for veterans benefits, and will focus my work on meeting the needs of military families," Nye said. "Currently, over 400,000 veterans are waiting to have their disability claims ruled on, and 200,000 veterans the United States are homeless. Our nation's commitment to its veterans must rise to meet the level of commitment they have shown us, and if I am elected to Congress I will fight to make sure that all veterans receive the benefits they have been promised."

Delegate Lynwood Lewis and Senator Ralph Northam Too! (elevandoski - 3/25/2008 7:31:11 PM)
Glenn Nye has also recently picked up the endorsements of Delegate Lynwood Lewis and Senator Ralph Northam, locking down the support of the entire Eastern Shore delegation.

"I am proud to endorse Glenn Nye for Congress. His service to country and commitment to bringing about change in an independent manner is badly needed in a Congress that has been too focused on partisanship. He will work to bring the focus back on making our country and our communities strong by creating well-paying jobs, repairing our infrastructure and stabilizing our economy," said Lewis. "He will support affordable health care options and funding for renewable sources of energy that will help lower gas prices and lessen our dependence on foreign oil. Glenn has deep roots on the Eastern Shore, having spent time here with his Grandmother who was born in Seaview. I look forward to working in Northampton and Accomack counties to elect Glenn Nye to Congress in November."

"I am honored to have the support of Delegate Lewis, who is a great representative in the House of Delegates for Accomack and Northampton Counties," said Nye. "I have a long family history on the Eastern Shore, and I intend to visit and campaign frequently in the leadup to November. I am extremely proud to have the support of the Eastern Shore's entire General Assembly delegation."

Nye has deep roots on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. His grandmother, of the Nottingham family, was born in Seaview where Glenn spent many holidays growing up and he has cousins in Cape Charles.

"I believe that serving your community and your country is the key to good life and Glenn has proven, through years of dedicated service to our country, that he understands how important it is to serve others. Glenn Nye's experience serving our country in some of the most challenging places in the world gives him a great background to help find common-sense solutions to the complex issues we face both at home and abroad.

"Here in Virginia, under the leadership of Governor Mark Warner and Governor Tim Kaine we have proven that there is a way to work with both sides of the aisle to get things done. We need people who will take that kind of problem solving approach to Washington and I believe Glenn is that kind of person."

"I am proud to have Dr. Ralph Northam's support in our campaign for Congress," said Nye. "Ralph is a great friend and a terrific Senator for our area. I look forward to working closely with him not just on our campaign, but in fighting for the change Virginia needs."

Endorsements for Glenn Nye also includes the support of former Congressman Owen Pickett.
