Each New VA GOP Senate Candidate More Bizarre Than the Last

A third Republican has entered the U.S. Senate primary, competing for the right to get trounced by Mark Warner this November. According to the Washington Post's Virginia Politics blog, he's Springfield conservative activist Robert D. "Bob" Berry, and he's bringing the crazy:

"On 78 percent of things, you can work with the other side for the good of the country," Berry said. "But there are a substantial number of things that really go to our core belief and my point of view is the Republicans have compromised too much with the liberals in Congress."

Berry said he fears Gilmore is "too capable of compromising the way John Warner did." He says Marshall is a "pretty solid conservative" but adds they "have different backgrounds and experiences."

Yes, that's the problem with today's Republican party. Too moderate. Too willing to get stuff done. And where does he get the 78% number? I can't wait to hear what other fun facts he completely makes up out of thin air. I can't find a picture of Berry and according to the Republican Party of Virginia, he doesn't have a website.

How disgusting is it that Berry goes out of his way to trash John Warner? I don't know about you, but I'm dying for the VA GOP Senate candidates to have a televised debate. That would be must-see TV.

78 Percent, huh? (Silence Dogood - 3/20/2008 4:04:20 PM)
I'm guessing part of the remaining 22 Percent that goes straight to his Republican core values is "fabricating statistics, manufacturing facts and otherwise making shit up."

OK, let's dig into that number ... (TheGreenMiles - 3/20/2008 4:22:20 PM)
What are Republicans not willing to compromise on?

* Abortion
* Staying in Iraq for at least another 100 years
* Only increasing gov't revenue through sneaky half-measures like higher fees
* Anything Tim Kaine likes

... others? I say it's a hell of a lot more than 22 percent of the time.
