Any thoughts on the SAVE act?

It is bipartisan bill, introduced by a Democrat.  The bill will bring on 8000 more border patrol agents and phase in e-verify over the next four years - meaning that in 4 years all employers will be required to validate legal status.  Employers who fail to do this will be fined.  This is what all of us on this blog, or at least most of us, have said needs to be done: workplace enforcement.

There are no roundups.  No mass deportations. No fences. No amnesty.  The only people I can find who are opposing this are the same groups who have opposed any changes to the law from day one.  And they are releasing fear mongering videos to go with their opposition.

All Republican and Democratic Presidential candidates (so far) don't have the guts to endorse it - nor the guts to oppose it.

And unfortunately, it appears that Pelosi and other key Democrats are trying to poison the bill with provisions that they know are sure to fail - such as increases in H-1b and H-2b visas.  How shameful!  We should not be playing politics with an issue that Americans want to solve.

I hope that progressive Democrats will take the lead on this.  This is a good bill and deserves to be passed.  After this bill is passed, I believe that the pro-immigration groups will then have the political capital to get some sort of path to legalization.  This is the most practical solution to the problem that I can think of.
