Goode Grief

Last night in Indiana, Andre Carson was elected to fill the seat in Congress made vacant by the death of his mother, Julia Carson. This means that the number of Muslim Representatives in the House has doubled since this time yesterday, Keith Ellison of Minnesota is the other.

Apparently the subject of Carson's faith was not an issue in the special election campaign against Republican Jon Elrod. Does anyone think that Rep. Virgil "The Muslims are coming!" Goode (R-VA) would have afforded Carson the same courtesy?

Anyone remember this letter from Goode that he sent out to constituents in 2006?:

The Muslim Representative from Minnesota was elected by the voters of that district and if American citizens don't wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran.

How can you forget? (JohnCos - 3/12/2008 1:33:54 PM)
Goode disgraced the 5th district. After his comments, the Washington Post said that Goode was "evidently napping in class the day they taught the traditional American values of tolerance, diversity and religious freedom." Also the Charlotte Observer opined that he was "further evidence of the sad decline in Virginia's contribution to democratic thought."
