Foster Wins!

This is a thrilling victory! (Susan Mariner - 3/8/2008 11:31:31 PM)
I've been keeping on eye on this race for quite a while as one of the Field Organizers who worked for the DPVA on the Bouchard and Mathieson delegate races got on board with this campaign months ago.  Now she's got even more wins under her belt.  Congratulations Meghan!

How exciting that a scientist picked up Hastert's old seat.  And the NRCC spent $1 million on this race, a third of the money they had.

A great ground game in IL-14 brought this one home.  Kudos to the ground troops in Illinois!

Shows that Sen. Obama (Ingrid - 3/8/2008 11:34:39 PM)
at the top of the ticket can help add Dems in the House and the Senate.

Illinois (Ron1 - 3/8/2008 11:45:50 PM)
There are about five seats in Illinois that he'd turn or make very competitive.

I truly think the Republicans could get slaughtered in the House this November -- like 40 or 50 seats. There are a shocking number of seats in NY, NJ, MI, IL, OH, PA, and CA held by Republicans that are nominally R+ PVI districts. Gerry-mandering helps explain part of the effect, but, once you piss off (like on a once-every-forty-years kind of piss off) about 60% of the country, well, even a 52-48 gerrymander can get swept away.

I think '08 will be better for Dems in the House than '06 was -- the presidential tide will get us over a number of the walls that didn't quite crumble in '06. I'm more worried about the Senate -- we still have a lot of work to do to get to 61 Dem Sens, although the candidates on our side are very high caliber.

Obama's Commercial (Flipper - 3/9/2008 1:17:25 AM)
Here is the video of the endorsement Obama made of on behalf of Bill Foster.

Obama can help Dems on down ticket races to an extent that Hillary Clinton cannot.  Certainly this point can't be lost on super delegates, can it?
