Why is John McCain so angry?

Oh this is an instant classic. John McCain became annoyed earlier today with a New York Times reporter who asked about his 2004 conversation with the then Democratic Presidential nominee John Kerry regarding McCain possibly running as Kerry's vice presidential nominee.

The Archie Bunker voter.  They like angry ;-)

McCain (South County - 3/9/2008 12:01:02 PM)
I worked for McCain for a year in 1999-2000.  I'd say intense is a better word than angry.  If you saw the tape that wasn't really anger, just back and fourth on an issue that has been already covered to death.  There's no new info there, so I didn't get the point of bringing it up.

McCain should be able to (Terry85 - 3/9/2008 12:23:09 PM)
answer the question without losing his cool, no matter how much it's been covered.

And McCain should not state (Alicia - 3/9/2008 4:32:39 PM)
that the issue is closed -- instead of answering honestly.

I think it highlights his stonewalling and less than honest tactics.  And his anger/intensity/bullyish nature.  That's the last thing this country  needs right now.

Let's get real (OaktonResident - 3/10/2008 3:46:26 PM)
This is way overblown (like some other recent NYT hatchjobs).  Actually, listen to the tape -- that is not anger or bullying.

Also, to be fair, doesn't McCain have a point that a "private" conversation is supposed to be "private."  Just because someone asks you a question does not mean that you have an obligation to answer -- for example, you properly can decline to answer when you have given your word that a conversation is "private" and there is no crime involved.

Likewise, I doubt that any stonewalling or dishonesty is involved here.  Are you saying that there is some crime at issue here?

Who implied that someone was breaking the law? (Terry85 - 3/10/2008 4:28:51 PM)
McCain doesn't have to break the law to be dishonest.  I knew that it had been rumored that McCain had been approached by John McCain but never knew 100% it actually happened, and I actually keep up to date with politics!  So for McCain to dodge the issue and then say "EVERYONE knows this happened" is a lie.  A lie he told to dodge an issue he knew would further hurt him with Conservatives.
