the Hovis' do a lot of fundraising (teacherken - 3/7/2008 7:33:28 PM)
I have been at several events at their lovely home, including most recently with Elizabeth Edwards - my, that seems like an eternity ago.

Whe  Jim Webb, endorses,he gives more than just his imprimateur, he also gives of himself.

If you've never been to the Hovises (AnonymousIsAWoman - 3/7/2008 9:44:49 PM)
Their home is indeed beautiful and they do a superb job. Teacherken is right on target about that.  If you have a chance to go to this, you won't be sorry.

she's (leftofcenter - 3/8/2008 10:13:20 AM)
the very best. good to see Webb involved. Hope the fund raiser is wildly sucessful.

Leslie's been fundraising for this race for 3 years (Andrea Chamblee - 3/8/2008 11:56:55 AM)
Unfortunately, that diverted funds from the other Dem running in the 11th, in 2006.

Webb fundraiser (Leslie Byrne - 3/8/2008 12:19:14 PM)
Andrea: I can't let this pass. I didn't raise any funds for this race until Oct.2007, I filed in November (after the last election) when I passed the $5,000 threshold required by FEC law.

"Diverted funds" (Lowell - 3/8/2008 12:50:54 PM)
On that subject, how about money that went to Gerry Connolly last year that could have gone to Janet Oleszek, George Barker, Rex Simmons, Jay Donahue, and many Democrats who could have used it?  As far as the 11th CD in 2006 is concerned, I strongly doubt that anyone "diverted funds" from Andy Hurst to Leslie Byrne.  Generally speaking, if you're going to make that argument, then I suppose Obama and Clinton are "diverting funds" from all downballot races this year, that Mark Warner is "diverting funds" from Virginia congressional candidates, that Creigh Deeds (and Brian Moran when he announces for Governor) will be "diverting funds" from House of Delegates candidates in 2009, etc., etc.  And aren't House of Delegates candidates "diverting funds" from school board candidates, county board candidates, constitutional officer candidates, dog catcher candidates, etc?  I don't buy this whole line of reasoning.

If any diversion was done (Teddy - 3/8/2008 1:09:28 PM)
I believe it is more likely provable in the case of Gerry Connolly  Himself, who hoarded a huge war chest while running ostensibly for re-election to the Chairmanship of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, did not spend that much of it while coasting to victory, and could have aided fellow Democrats like Janet Oleszek and others.  If he had shared his political dollars with them, we likely would not now have a Virginia Assembly still dominated by the likes of Cuccinelli, etc.

Another reason why Leslie Byrne should get the nod (Catzmaw - 3/8/2008 1:56:09 PM)
rather than Connolly.  He's only a team player if he gets the ball.

He got the ball as Chairman of the BOS (NGB - 3/8/2008 2:04:48 PM)
and he still wasn't a team player.

You think $100,000 or so (Lowell - 3/8/2008 2:08:14 PM)
might have gotten Janet Oleszek an extra 101 votes?  Hmmmmmm.

Wish I could (Tom Joad (Kevin) - 3/25/2008 7:17:45 PM)
afford going to this function in my backyard. I guess I'll have to wait for a cheaper fundraiser.

dude (totallynext - 3/26/2008 8:44:33 PM)
you need to post the disclaimer.

What disclaimer? (Lowell - 3/26/2008 9:20:52 PM)
