This morning, Governor-Elect Tim Kaine's transition team released an announcement of two more Cabinet appointments, appointing Aneesh Chopra (33) as Secretary of Technology and also confirming ongoing rumors of the appointment of Republican Delegate Preston Bryant (41) to the post of Secretary of Natural Resources.

The press release mentions:

Bryant, a 10-year member of the House of Delegates, has served on the Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources Committee and was the chief patron of the 2000 Virginia Nontidal Wetlands Protections Act, the 2004 Stormwater Management ? Streamlined Program and the 2005 Nutrient Credit Trading Program. Kaine noted Bryant?s commitment to sound policy development in the area of natural resources, as well as his professional familiarity with land use planning...

Chopra is currently a managing director of the Advisory Board Company, which provides best practices research and analysis to the health care industry, focusing on business strategy, operations and general management issues. Much of his work has focused on using technology to drive down health care costs. Chopra was one of Virginia?s two appointees to the Southern Technology Council, where he was appointed as co-chair. He was also appointed to the Governor?s Electronic Health Records Task Force, where he worked to identify strategies for lowering costs, improving patient satisfaction and accelerating the adoption of patient safety measures using technology.

Formal announcement of these appointments will be made at a press conference at 2:45 p.m. today.
