Delegate Chris SaxmanFourteen House Republicans defeated commonsense today when the House voted 14-8 against SB 51, the bill that allowed local governments to make their own decisions about health care insurance.  I blogged about it here.

But horrors upon horrors, if those employees of said local government might actually include homosexuals with an interest in insuring their livelong committed partners.

Writes the "Some Families" Foundation:

"SB 51, however, was assigned to subcommittee 1.  Last Tuesday, the bill passed out of that subcommittee by a vote of 6-5 when three consistently pro-family Delegates, Frank Hargrove (R-55, Hanover), Harvey Morgan (R-98, Gloucester) and Chris Saxman (R-20, Staunton), inexplicably voted with the liberal Democrats to report the bill.  Thankfully, in full committee yesterday, Delegates Hargrove, Morgan and Saxman had a change of heart and voted with the majority to kill the bill.

The homosexual agenda for the 2008 General Assembly Session has now been successfully defeated."

And here Delegate Saxman thinks he stands a chance of running for Lt. Governor in 2009.  Well, sorry Chris... lily-livered cowards don't stand a chance.  Rue the day, Chris Saxman.

And hey, Family Foundation, tell me about your anti-choice agenda and how well it did, okay?!?  Pissants!

But dammit if I didn't write these words too soon...
Cuccinelli's bill to ban funding to Planned Parenthood wound up with a 20-20 vote, therefore LG Bolling decided it and take a wild guess which way he went. Some Families Foundation proclaims victory.

They write... "The final state budget will be decided upon over the next week. The Senate and House versions conflict in many ways and a conference committee has been appointed to work out the differences. It is very likely that the Planned Parenthood amendment will now be part of the budget negotiations over the next week. We will keep you informed and send out an action alert to encourage inclusion of this amendment in the final budget next week."

This ain't over! But boy am I hopping mad!!!

"The homosexual agenda for the 2008 General Assembly Session has now been successfully defeated.""

HAH! I love this. All we want is equality under the law and they act like the "agenda" is some huge radical change that's going to be of some big detriment to every one's everyday lives.

these are some abominable people.

Values (Evan M - 2/28/2008 11:29:30 AM)
Well, it's pretty illustrative of Republican values - no help or health for those other people love. Only disdain for those other people hate.
