From "demiowa,", looks like Governor Warner will be taking a well-deserved, hard-earned vacation in Iowa this January or February.  Check this out:

Interested in meeting Gov. Warner
Or better yet, interested in possibly hosting Gov. Warner? He is planning on making a foray into Iowa in Jan/Feb and is looking for possible hosts. My understanding is the only requirements is it be open to the public and this time of year be able to host 20-30 people if lucky. (The closer to caucus the bigger the expected turn out.) If you, or anyone you know, might be interested just leave an email address or other contact information and I will forward it on.

Anyway, I was trying to think of fun things for Mark Warner to do in Iowa in the middle of the winter, and here are a few I found:

* Frosty The Snow-less Snowman Festival (1/6-1/15): "Artistic snowmen and snowwomen made without snow. In the historic Village of East Davenport."

*Des Moines Winter Carnival (1/13-1/15): "Interactive activities will include man-made sledding hills, a snowman village, a chili cookoff, live entertainment and more."

*Snowfest 2006 (1/26-1/29): Howard County Fair Grounds, Cresco Iowa (winter drag races, snowball dance, bonfire, etc.)

*Winterfest in Amana (1/28): "Ice sculpting, 5K run/walk, sled riders, log sawing, wine walk, ice block cutting, arts, stories and more"

*Winterfest Ice Fishing Derby (1/28): "Reel in Winter Fun with this one-day Tournament at Lake Manawa State Park" (over $100,000 in Cash & Prizes)

*Color the Wing Kite Festival (2/18): "At the Seawall in Downtown Clear Lake, Iowa" ("The flying field is open to all! Bring your kites and join the "master" kite fliers on the ice for a lot of fun!")

In other words, there's tons of great stuff to do in Iowa this winter.  Just thought I'd point them out to Mark Warner, since he's planning a trip to that fine state.  I can't imagine any other reason he'd be going there.  Can you?
