SurveyUSA: Obama Beats McCain in Virginia

According to a brand new poll by SurveyUSA (which nailed the Virginia primary results, btw), Barack Obama beats John McCain in Virginia by 6 points, 51%-45%!  Obama wins every region of the state except for Shenandoah, with his biggest margin in northern Virginia (61%-38%).  In contrast, Hillary Clinton loses to John McCain in Virginia by 3 points, 48%-45%. Clinton loses every region of the state, except for northern Virginia, where she holds a 3-point margin (49%-46%).

This is the latest in a series of SurveyUSA and Rasmussen polls that show Obama winning -- and Clinton losing -- states like Iowa, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Oregon...and now Virginia. Food for thought.

Clinton's Win At All Costs Strategy.... (Flipper - 2/19/2008 1:09:24 PM)
Team Clinton is going to target Obama delegates in their "win at all costs" strategy.

Could this be why? (phillip123 - 2/19/2008 1:47:30 PM)
"A co-chairman of Hillary's Michigan campaign and has a line that's sure to drive a whole bunch of red state governors up the wall:

"'Superdelegates are not second-class delegates,' says Joel Ferguson, who will be a superdelegate if Michigan is seated. 'The real second-class delegates are the delegates that are picked in red-state caucuses that are never going to vote Democratic.'"

it's worth pointing out (Scripple - 2/19/2008 1:54:54 PM)
that there are many more of those states "that are never going to vote Democratic" if Hillary Clinton is our nominee.

Be ready for their attack (legacyofmarshall - 2/19/2008 3:22:36 PM)
I've brought up all these polling numbers with Clinton supporters (one of them might decide to post on this - SWVA.Observer) - all of them have but one defense:

Obama's numbers are inflated because he hasn't been villified and attacked by the media and the Right like Clinton has.  If he's nominated, he will be and his numbers will go down.

My response: IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO?  Seriously, your response is to say: Obama's numbers will go down, NOT, Clinton's numbers will go up?  Clinton supporters love to cede defeat in "red" states and just assure us that she'll win Kerry's states plus Ohio or Florida.

Why do we have to settle with that?  So, yeah, what if Obama slips a few points to McCain in the general, he still wins or comes awful close in Iowa, Virginia, etc.  Clinton has nowhere to go but... well I believe she has nowhere to go.  A fixed amount of voters love her, and a fixed amount hate her.

Obama for president of ALL 50 STATES!
