SEIU, UFCW to Endorse Obama?

It looks like the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) "is on the verge of throwing its support to Sen. Barack Obama."  According to The Politico, this endorsement is "particularly important in beefing up [Obama's] organization in Texas, where the union has a major presence among Latinos."

As if that's not good enough, it also appears that the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) will endorse Obama as well.  Combined, the two unions have more than 3 million members.  Great news, Obama fans! :)

This would be huge (DanG - 2/14/2008 6:02:44 PM)
Remember, Obama doesn't have to win Ohio or Texas.  But if he can keep Hillary's victory below 10%, she simply won't be able to get enough delegates to win it all.

If Hillary wins PA, OH and TX (Ben - 2/14/2008 6:30:30 PM)
She is the nominee.

not true.. (NGB - 2/14/2008 6:47:15 PM)
Her margin of victory matters big time.

Agreed (DanG - 2/14/2008 6:56:58 PM)
If she barely wins those three, Obama's delegate number will be 100+.  No way do the superdelegates counter such a commanding lead that way; it would be civil war in the party.

Speaking of talking points (Lowell - 2/14/2008 7:00:17 PM)
I see you've got yours going! :)

If... (Tom Joad (Kevin) - 2/14/2008 10:07:28 PM)
the 16 state strategy was good for Kerry, then it's good enough for Hillary?

Key phrase (Lowell - 2/14/2008 7:16:46 PM)
"69,000 members in the Buckeye state and another 26,000 in Texas"

Let's see what they can do for Obama in the next 2 1/2 weeks!

I hope so (Ingrid - 2/14/2008 7:44:31 PM)
Union endorsements didn't help Sen. Obama that much in Nevada.

UFCW huge in OHIO (WillieStark - 2/14/2008 9:50:34 PM)
Kroger is headquartered in Cincinnati.

This is big stuff for Obama there.
