Remember New Hampshire!

Polling predicts a big Obama win today.  Obama supporters are giddy.  Pundits are wondering if today could be the start of unstoppable momentum for him.

Sound familiar?

The same was happening the day of the New Hampshire primary, and Obama supporters did not turn out as expected probably due to expectations of a blowout.  And we all know what happened: Clinton won and rejuvenated her campaign, creating momentum that carried her to a Nevada victory.

So, remember, if Obama voters stay home and Hillary voters turn out, Virginia could become the second "New Hampshire" of 2008.  Don't let this happen.  There's a chance that Clinton could steal a victory today (or get a larger share of delegates than expected) to rejuvenate her campaign, so make sure you get your own vote in and then work on getting your Obama-supporting friends and families to the polls.  If they are registered to vote, they can participate in the Democratic primary.

Click here to find out where to vote -- and forward the link below to your friends and family to help them out too.  Let them know that polls close at 7 p.m. tonight!

Also, the campaign is trying to make 100,000 calls by the time polls close tonight.  Can you help out?

NH (Bernie Quigley - 2/12/2008 1:43:40 PM)
Since the NH primary there has been some consideration that Independents, of whom there are many of here and of their own distinct species, shifted from Obama to McCain after he was virtually cannonized by the press after Iowa thinking that since Obama was safe they could help push Romney out. I almost did the same myself. It is characteristic of northern Yankees here in the mountain bush to think strategically like that about things. The only two candidates the Independents supported in numbers were Obama and McCain. There was that and the Clinton-inclined industrial class of Massachusetts which has bled over the line heavily here in NH. I don't see it in y'all types in rural Virginia nor in NoVa.

In fact, NH has been an inoculation against that which could insure a greater Obama vote than he might normally have gotten. Today could be the turning point and I think it is characteristic of the way our country is going that it turn in Virignia. Nathaniel Hawthorne said there is a witch spirit in NH which makes us do all crazy things and that is how I see it.
