Vice President Cheney has once again come out of his undisclosed location to state publicly that America must "work... the "dark side." Consider what this man is really saying: to win the so-called "war on terrorism," America must become like the evil Darth Vader in the "Star Wars" movies, engaging in torture and wanton destruction as an amoral matter of public policy. Aside from the fact that going over to the "Dark Side," as Darth...er, Dick Cheney advocates, completely ignores our Constitution and our Republic, it utterly betrays why we fought a Revolution and drafted a Bill of Rights in the first place. What on earth is Dick Cheney thinking? Has our Vice President gone completely off the deep end? Who knows, but the implications of his "dark side" beliefs are chilling.
Fortunately, Cheney's lunacy and assault on American values are not going unchallenged.
