Kansas!

Tomorrow night, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius will deliver, on national television, the Democratic response to President George W. Bush’s final State of the Union address.

On the next day, Barack Obama may arrive in the home town of his mother and grandmother, Wichita. (Kansas will hold caucuses on Feb. 5 with 32 delegates at stake.)

Not since RFK in 1968 has a Democratic presidential candidate campaigned in Kansas.

Obtaining Sebelius' endorsement would be an important coup for Obama.

If Obama can win a state like Kansas on Feb. 5 and go on to win the Democratic nomination, an Obama - Sebelius ticket could go a long way toward re-energizing disappointed Clinton voters.

Sebelius! (jsrutstein - 1/27/2008 11:58:16 AM)
As Peter Griffin would say, "Holy crap!"

I confess to not knowing much about Gov. Sebelius, and Wikipedia ought never to be one's sole source of research, but....holy crap!

and it looks like she will (jsrutstein - 1/27/2008 5:29:23 PM)
According to Marc Ambinder at The Atlantic, Sebelius will endorse Obama sometime after her response to the State of the Union tomorrow.

Who needs FL? (jsrutstein - 1/27/2008 6:23:17 PM)
While Hillary Clinton reportedly will be violating her pledge not to campaign in Florida on Tuesday, Barack Obama will be in El Dorado, KS, the hometown of his maternal grandfather, Stanley Dunham.  It would be a convenient place to receive the endorsement of KS Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.
