Bimbo Eruptions

I have been posting diaries on this blog for months regarding the baggage the Clintons carry with them - the Rose Law Firm billing records, the cattle futures deal, Whitewater, travelgate, VINCE FOSTER, etc., etc., etc.  The Clintons can never take responsibility for anything, which is why so many people across the country do not like them - everything is always some elses fault.  And I disagree with people over Whitewater, which was a pile of crap.  But regardless, a huge chunk of the public, particularly swing voters and independents,  detests them over these issues as well as others, that is the reality.  We as a party have to understand that.

And I continually raise these issues because I am terrified that if she wins the nomination, she will lose the general election defending herself and her husband on the issues I raised above.  You cannot win an election in this country discussing the past.

Hillary Clinton has spent much of this campaign discussing how much she did during the two terms Bill was in office.  But the one thing she was put in charge of, reforming healthcare, was a disaster.  Actually, it was worse than a disaster, it has become one of the most legendary disasters in our most recent political history.  And as a result of her inept leadership, Democrats lost BOTH houses of Congress for the first time in DECADES.  The Clinton's just have too much baggage attached to them to win another general election.

Our party has so much going for it in this years general election after having lived through hell on earth the last 8 years with the village idiot. But we will end up losing again in an election we all think we should win if Hillary Clinton is nominated.

And with Bill Clinton being so vocal and visible these days in Hillary' campaign, his past behavior is fair game.  Are we as a party willing to take the chance and nominate her and two weeks out from the election, their is another bimbo eruption?  Are we?  What if?  Do we really know if the behavior has stopped?

Now some would argue that Bill brings a lot to the table and can be an asset - and I agree with that as well.  But this one issue based on his past behavior terrifies me.  It was going on when he was governor and it came to light during his campaign in 1992.  After having gone through that whole interview on CBS with Hillary to discuss their marriage,it erupted again with Ms. Lewsinsky six years later  Are we as a party willing to take the chance that this could erupt again?  Think about it.

Wow, lol, and sigh all at the same time (tx2vadem - 1/25/2008 12:05:45 AM)
What disaster did the Clintons not create?  OMG! Are they evil?  Did they kill Vince Foster?  I mean who has crossed the Clintons and lived to tell the tale. ;)

Yeah, I think you give the health care failure too much credit.  That failure didn't even present itself in the election that made Bush governor of the state of Texas.  And as I recall, it was Newty's genius along with Republican wordsmiths that lead to their steamroller victory in 1994.  And the health care thing was long gone, when they kept winning elections and eventually the presidency.  Not to mention, that Americans have short attention spans, early onset dementia, where they can't remember last year let alone to 2, 3, 4 or more years ago.

He put the mongoose into my rabbit's cage in Hawaii in 1980.  For real and for true.

David Geffen on Hillary: polarizing, lies with troubling ease, easiest to defeat (j_wyatt - 1/25/2008 3:09:27 AM)
The famously prescient David Geffen, Hollywood mogul and cochairman of Dreamworks, was once very tight with the Clintons.

from the NY Times
February 21, 2007

"Whoever is the nominee is going to win, so the stakes are very high," says Mr. Geffen ... "Not since the Vietnam War has there been this level of disappointment in the behavior of America throughout the world, and I don't think that another incredibly polarizing figure, no matter how smart she is and no matter how ambitious she is - and God knows, is there anybody more ambitious than Hillary Clinton? - can bring the country together."

"Obama is inspirational, and he's not from the Bush royal family or the Clinton royal family. ..."

... "I don't think anybody believes that in the last six years, all of a sudden Bill Clinton has become a different person," Mr. Geffen says, adding that if Republicans are digging up dirt, they'll wait until Hillary's the nominee to use it. "I think they believe she's the easiest to defeat."

She is overproduced and overscripted. "It's not a very big thing to say, 'I made a mistake' on the war, and typical of Hillary Clinton that she can't," Mr. Geffen says. "She's so advised by so many smart advisers who are covering every base. ..."

... Can Obambi stand up to Clinton Inc.? "I hope so," he says, "because that machine is going to be very unpleasant and unattractive and effective."

Once, David Geffen and Bill Clinton were tight as ticks. Mr. Geffen helped raise some $18 million for Bill and slept in the Lincoln Bedroom twice. Bill chilled at Chateau Geffen. Now, the DreamWorks co-chairman calls the former president "a reckless guy" who "gave his enemies a lot of ammunition to hurt him and to distract the country."

They fell out in 2001, when Mr. Clinton gave a pardon to Marc Rich after rebuffing Mr. Geffen's request for one for Leonard Peltier. "Marc Rich getting pardoned? An oil-profiteer expatriate who left the country rather than pay taxes or face justice?" Mr. Geffen says. "Yet another time when the Clintons were unwilling to stand for the things that they genuinely believe in. Everybody in politics lies, but they do it with such ease, it's troubling."...
